Players With Pride
Deer Park High School
Deer Park Athletic Director/ Coach/ Teacher (1974-1989)
Coach Holly set the football standard in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Coach Hollifield brought in quality men as coaches and teachers who would spend their careers at Deer Park. Holly also inspired and motivated his students and players in a variety of ways that only Holly could achieve. He brought out the best in everyone that he led. From 1974-1988, his record on the football field was 81-68-3. Coach Holly’s teams won 2 EHL championships and the school’s first state football playoff appearance in 1981. The 1981 Wildcats are the only undefeated regular season football team in school history. Holly retired from Deer Park in 1989, after 15 years, due to health conditions. That same year, The Bob Hollifield Scholarship Fund was established. That scholarship fund has donated thousands of dollars to Deer Park graduates who further their education.
Holly was a 1964 graduate of Norwood High School and a 1968 graduate of Xavier University. Holly was on the final Xavier division I football teams and was team captain his senior season. Coach Hollifield started his coaching career at Archbishop Hoban High School in 1969. Holly returned to Cincinnati to coach on his high school football coach, Bill Hoffeld, at Madeira. Holly also was the defensive coordinator at Colerain before he took the varsity football head coach position at Deer Park.
Coach Hollifield passed away in 2006 at age 59.
